The Finnish Cancer Registry is an institute for epidemiological and statistical cancer research, founded in 1952. There are  more than 20 permanent workers, among them experts, e.g., in medicine, epidemiology, statistics and information technology. In addition there are a number of researchers working on  project-based  funding. The Cancer Society of Finland (www.cancer.fi) provides basic funding for the Registry partially supported by Finland’s Slot Machine Association (RAY). Several research projects are funded through outside research contracts.
